About the Coaches:

Matthew coached SJPII for the first time in 2012, Majd joined in 2017, while Aidan and Alex started in 2018. Matthew played on the team for three years (two as captain), Majd for one year, Aidan for three years, and Alex for one year during their elementary careers. SJPII first won a championship in 2012 and has since won a total of twenty six championships in the last eight seasons. With over 40 years of combined playing and coaching experience, we are devoted to teach the players many new skills and win many more championships. Past assistant coaches include Nic Bruno (2012-2014, 2016), Ross Perri (2014), Domenico Grande (2011, 2014-2015), and Charlie Francuz (2018).

 Matthew Aslett: (Head Coach)

  • Bachelor of Commerce and Chancellor's Scholarship Recipient at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario: 2015 to Present.
  • Teaching and Research Assistant at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario: 2016 to Present.
  • Played for the RVDL Soccer Academy (Soccer Academy Alliance Canada): March 2010 to November 2014.
  • Competed in the Keele International Cup (England 2012) against teams from across the world.
  • Trained with Professional English Academy Club coaches at: Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City, and Wolverhampton Wanderers (England 2012).
  • Worked as the Youth Match Official and Mentor Facilitator at Oakville Soccer Club: April 2016 to Present.
  • Coached SJPII Soccer Team during the 2012 season (our first championship winning season).
  • Earned the Ontario Soccer Association Soccer for Life coaching designation, Making Ethical Decisions Certificate, and Respect in Soccer Certificate (Spring 2014).
  • Trained in Standard First Aid and CPR (2015).
  • Played for the SJPII Soccer Team: 2009 to 2011 (two years as captain).
  • Played for the Loyola School Soccer Team (HSSAA Finalists 2012, HSSAA Champions 2014, GHAC Finalists 2014, OFSAA 2014).

Majd Shoufany: (Goalkeeper Coach)

  • Bachelor of Life Sciences at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario: 2015 to Present.
  • Played for the Oakville Soccer Club: September 2007 to August 2015.
  • Played for the SJPII Senior Soccer Team: 2011. 
  • Coached SJPII Soccer Team since the 2017 season (winning seven championships).
  • Won the North Israel Chess Championship in July 2011 in the Intermediate Division.
  • Born in Israel and immigrated to Canada in 2007.

Aidan Moulton: (Defensive Coach)

  • Graduated from St. John Paul II Elementary School: September 2007 to June 2017.
  • Played for the Oakville and Burlington Soccer Club (3 Years Rep): 2009 to Present.
  • Played for the SJPII Junior and Senior Soccer Teams: 2015 to 2017 (Defender). 
  • Won 8 Soccer Championship Titles during his playing career for Saints FC.
  • Coached SJPII Soccer Team since the 2018 season (winning three championships).
  • Member of the SJPII track and field team
  • Certified Small Sided Game Official with Ontario Soccer: 2018 to Present.

Alexander Del Monte: (Attacking Coach)

  • Graduated from St. John Paul II Elementary School: September 2007 to June 2017.
  • Played for the Oakville Rangers AAA Hockey Team: 2013 to Present.
  • Played for the SJPII Senior Soccer Team: 2018 (Senior Team MVP, 19 goals in 22 games). 
  • Won 4 Soccer Championship Titles during his playing career for Saints FC.
  • Coached SJPII Soccer Team since the 2018 season (winning three championships).
  • Spearheaded the SJPII Volleyball Team to a first Halton Championship Title in November 2016.
  • Member of the SJPII hockey, basketball, volleyball, track, and cross country teams.
  • Certified Small Sided Game Official with Ontario Soccer: 2018 to Present.
